Many of us have heard the news that Bonnie Springs Ranch has been sold and will have new owners very shortly.  The intent is to develop a high-end housing community. However, a lot of people are confused and think that means the Outdoor Theater run by Super Summer Theatre is closing as well……Not true.  Super Summer Theater is at Spring Mountain Ranch, which is next door to Bonnie Springs. It is a different entity entirely and is alive and well and hopefully will continue to be around for long, long time.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park with beautiful views of the Las Vegas Valley is between Bonnie Springs & the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation. In addition to the theatre, visitors can explore some of the oldest buildings in Nevada, a 1860s blacksmith shop, the Sandstone Cabin that was home to the founding family and the ranch house. Hiking trails throughout the park, in addition to tree-shaded picnic sites with tables and grills, make day trips to the park a family favorite.

For over 40 years, Super Summer Theatre at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park has offered a variety of outdoor shows to enjoy. The venue is exactly 10 miles west of the 215/West Charleston intersection.  June, July & August performances run Wednesday –Saturday and September’s production runs Thursday – Saturday).

A couple of interesting facts about Bonnie Springs- The “Bonnie” in Bonnie Springs Ranch comes from Bonnie McGaugh, the woman who purchased the ranch in 1952.  McGaugh, a one-time dancer and showgirl, passed away in 2016.

While she purchased the ranch in 1952, the ranch’s history dates back to 1840.  The zoo at Bonnie Springs Ranch started when the owner took in two pygmy goats from (wait for it) Wayne Newton.

We surely will miss Bonnie Springs Ranch with its “wild west” feel and are thrilled to say Spring Mountain Ranch will still be open for many different activities especially the Super Summer Theatre.
